BBC 'Need a Good Sleep?'

Role: Creative Director

Delighted to be able to share this BBC ‘Sleeping Forecast’ promo I just made with the brilliant Joseph Wallace and amazing team of creatives that will hopefully putting audience to sleep!

After making the Christmas promo the BBC Sounds team came back to us and asked for a brand film to communicate the soothing and soporific quality of the podcast. We created a piece with diverse cast falling asleep in simple, theatrical yet highly evocative settings. It’s the 100th anniversary of the Shipping Forecast, which the Sleeping Forecast is built on, so our piece happens in a fishing village and there are nautical easter eggs throughout.

Joseph brilliantly directed and designed again. Adeena and Lara’s puppets are gorgeous (and thanks to Adeena’s mum for stepping in). Eve and Lara’s model-making is exceptional. Malcolm (Corpse Bride, Chicken Run 2) shot and lit beautifully with animated wave reflections, leaf shadows and programmed lighting throughout. Wonderful lead animation from Steve (Pinnochio, Isle of Dogs). Great rigs from Rob. Fred did lovely, seamless compositing. Classy sound Design and mix from David and grade by Ben. Shout out to Martha Ling and Frederick Botham at the BBC who are brilliant commissioners and Katy Leckie for the original hook-up and voiceover!
