About

Yoav is an Arts Foundation winning theatre designer with a background in film, TV and scenic projection design. His work has been seen at the National Theatre, Sadler's Wells, Bristol Old Vic, the Eden Project, Stratford Circus, the BBC, Sky Arts, the Tate Modern, Wembley Stadium and at a host of global film and music festivals.

In early 2024 Yoav set designed the new stage musical CABLE STREET, directed by Adam Lenson, which sold-out soon after opening. It was described by the Guardian as a 'dazzling musical portrait of a community against fascism' and Broadway World reported 'especially impressive is the sequence of ‘The Battle’, where set, props, direction, choreography, and even a touch of puppetry come together to recreate a massive protest using only eleven people.'

Yoav was co-creator and designer of George the Poet's one-man play GEORGE AT THE NATIONAL (The Shed, National Theatre). He also recently worked with Chris New on his PILGRIM PLAYS at the National Theatre's New Works studio. Yoav's scenic projection design work includes: 'VARMINTS, directed by Sally Cookson (Sadlers Wells, Stratford Circus, UK tour); IN PROGRESS created with Wang-Ramirez and the Olivier nominated Rocio Molina (Sadler's Wells); CROW created by the team behind WarHorse (Handspring UK, 2012 Cultural Olympiad). Yoav's work has also been seen on tour with the award-winning beat-box artist Reeps One and behind the legendary DJ Shadow. In 2022 Yoav art-directed the title sequence for ONCE UPON A TIME IN LONDONGRAD for Sky Originals, which was long-listed for a BAFTA.

Yoav's interest in the arts also includes social action and campaigning and his film IRONS IN THE FIRE (Sky Arts / Sky 3D), narrated by Idris Elba, called for more creative opportunity for at-risk youth. Yoav was Founding Creative Director of RightsInfo (now EachOther), a social media project bringing human rights understanding to the public through imaginative and creative ideas. He has twice been an Arts Emergency mentor.

In 2020 he received an MA with distinction in Theatre Design from the University of the Arts London, having studied at Wimbeldon College of Arts. He is now taking on design opportunities of every size and shape.

Yoav finds it odd writing about himself in the third person.
